Last Friday, March 13th, staff and National Council members had the privilege of experiencing the first edition of a fundraising activity initiated by the Fundraising/Communications Working Group of the Share Lent Campaign organizing committee: a silent auction!
It was managed by my colleague, Joanne Parent, Fundraising Officer - Catholic Community, who, amongst others, collected donations of arts, crafts and other items of various origins. The Montreal office employees showed us that their offices and their closets at home are full of many treasures that they generously shared with us for the auction! Included in the auction, were even art pieces from estates that were inherited by the organization over the years.
We took advantage of the presence in Montreal of members of the National Council and invited them to come and bid on the objects of their choice together with employees, thus creating an opportunity for informal exchanges. And it was in an atmosphere of excitement that the last names and amounts were placed on the bidding cards at 1:30 p.m. when the auction closed.
Although the famous phrase “going once, going twice, three times ... sold!” wasn't pronounced, it was with great pleasure that we discovered the highest bidders registered at the cutoff time for each of the items exhibited.
The afternoon break of the National Council meeting was the perfect moment to announce of the total amount collected... $ 1,630.00! A great success that crowned the collaborative work of the fundraising team and several colleagues from the communications team.
Congratulations and thanks to everyone who participated!
