For our common home

The Amazon and its people are under threat

Deforestation

With new highways and railroads opening the forests to cattle ranching and industrial agriculture, the Amazon is losing one to three soccer fields worth of forest cover every minute!

Resource extraction

Driven by insatiable consumer demand, oil extraction and mining are polluting the Amazon’s land, air and waterways.

Communities at risk

Megaprojects like hydroelectricity dams are uprooting communities. Those who defend their territories are being threatened, criminalized and killed.

What can we do?

Becoming aware is the first thing to do. Through united action, informed Canadians can help protect the traditional defenders of the Amazon, who are saving our ecological future.
